The base of the candlestick is steady, but the spiral pattern in the middle adds a bit of movement to the overall posture - as if the still metal is still slowly rotating, but no one can see it. When the candle is lit, the flame moves and jumps between the gullies of the twisted pattern, the iron color reflects the warm light, and a hint of warmth is revealed in the cold and hard. When the wax tears flow down, they eventually condense into amber scabs, coexisting with the rust.
It is both an artifact and a solidified melody, standing silently on the desk, waiting for the firelight to give it the illusion of flow again.
